Cristiano Ronaldo won membership in an exclusive group by only entering the pitch tonight at Stadium 974.
He joined Lothar Matthaus, Antonio Carbajal, Rafa Marquez, Gianluigi Buffon, Andres Guardado, Guillermo Ochoa, and Lionel Messi in accomplishing this feat by participating in his fifth FIFA World CupTM. If CR7 participates in all three of Portugal's group-stage games as anticipated, he would join the top-ten appearance holders of the competition.
Ronaldo, though, has never expressed interest in joining a team. The date of November 24, 2022 will always be significant to him because he wants to go down in history as one of, if not the, best players to ever play the game.
It is the day he opened the scoring for Portugal in a thrilling 3-2 victory over Ghana, making him the first and only player to score in five different iterations of the game's most prestigious competition.
